Getting out of debt will not happen
overnight; it takes time. Since you have time now, let’s make good use
of it.
To achieve this baby step, you will need to make some firm decisions
and stick to them. Everyone in your household must be onboard with this plan.
Baby Step 1 -- $1,000 In An Emergency Fund ($500 if you make
less than $20,000)
NOT AN EMERGENCY:
• Eating out because you forgot to cook or don’t want leftovers
• Your family member or friend wants to go to the movies, shopping,
or to eat
• You have plenty of clothes but there is a sale on something that looks
nice
• The latest phone, game, electronic device, etc.
AN EMERGENCY:
• AC goes out at home
• Vehicle breaks down
• Major appliance breaks down
• Illness
